    The US Program Advocacy and Communications team works in partnership with program teams (K12, Post-secondary Success, Mobility and Opportunity) and other teams in Global Policy and Advocacy (GPA) to achieve this vision by developing and coordinating the execution of advocacy and communications strategies and leveraging leadership and foundation voice to advance advocacy strategies.

    Position Summary and Responsibilities:

    The Portfolio and Platform Lead (PPL) role is a specialized senior program officer (SPO) established to maximize GH’s capabilities in the areas of product development and portfolio management.  The PPL will play a critical integrator role, working collaboratively with the malaria team (PST), its matrix team partners and our external grantees, namely the Product Development Partners (PDPs).  The over-arching goal of the PPL will be to ‘work across the matrix’ to ensure that the portfolio of investments related to product development has robust implementation plans that ultimately result in impact. The PPL will leverage his/her expertise in product development management to apply rigorous methodology to support the malaria PST across drugs, vaccines, vector control, and diagnostics development to achieve its malaria control and elimination goals. The PPL will adapt and apply his/her integrated product development experience and approaches to best suit the complex ecosystem in which Global Health works with various partners (Product Development Partners (PDPs), biopharmaceutical companies, academic research institutions, etc.).  Additionally, the PPL will serve as project lead for a cutting-edge product investment team within the malaria portfolio aimed to accelerate our course to elimination.

    Role Summary:

    The Senior Program Officer, HIV – Sub-Saharan Africa, partners with the TB and HIV Teams in Global Health & Global Development, and with the Africa Team to develop, execute, and evaluate country level strategies to accelerate the decline of the burden and incidence of HIV infection by ensuring development and use of impactful prevention and treatment interventions.  In addition, the incumbent will engage with members of other Teams within the Global Health, Global Development and Global Policy and Advocacy Divisions to ensure synergies with the strategies of these teams.

    This position will shape strategies; make and manage investments; represent the Foundation’s TB and HIV Teams; and, engage with National, Provincial, and District government and key partners to support HIV programmatic priorities in South Africa as well as a focused sub-set of Sub-Saharan African countries.

    The position will report to the Regional Advisor, Southern Africa within the Global Development Division and have a dotted line to the HIV/TB Program Strategy Team within the Global Health Division.
